So glad...

...that the snowplough did not show up this morning- it had started raining around five in the morning and continued to do so all day long, while the east of the country got snow. After a short interlude with sleet the temperatures rose quickly, and hubby even walked to get today´s newspaper (the one we cancelled because of more speculative than quality journalism). Around midday we were up to eight degrees, and the snow was offed quickly. I did the baking for tomorrow, the cake turned out nice but not overwhelming so. No worries, it will get eaten, even though I gave decorating a miss, because I am a lazy person. Plus, the only glaced cherries I had bought were already in the cake...
We did not cook lunch but made simple cheese toast in the still hot oven. Hubby gave the wheeled tray table a quick check and told me that everything was as well functioning as before. Double ha! That man has missed a career as a comedian! I have chopped lots of vegetables on this tray without clacking sounds from the one leg which must be shorter by some millimetres since hubby´s beautification measures!
I did read a lot during afternoon, did not want to go out into the wet weather. But the funniest thing I read I read on my PC: it was a weather warning for NEXT Friday, when there might be ONE centimetre of snow. Must be a weather warning for Vienna, the place where the biggest losers of the country have taken up residence. For those one centimetre of snow is enough to create utter chaos. As you see- no love for the capital comes from the west of the country, and neither does it come from the south. Those living east and north have at least a neighbouring country within range they can run to...
Not much got done during the afternoon. I did browse Amazon for a biography I wanted to read. It´s always the decision between ebook or paperback or hardcover. This time paperback won the competition. If I love the biography it can stay. If not it will follow its brethren to the next bookbox. No financial harm done then, paperbacks are not expensive.
I wonder if today´s last coffee at five will do the trick and keep me awake for the evening- yesterday I slept through the prime time programme and woke only at the costumary bedtime. Went upstairs, brushed my teeth then fell asleep again until early morning. Dark days like the ones we have at the moment are sleep-provoking!
Tomorrow sister will show up for a delayed Christmas visit- the first date we had to cancel because we had been sick- and daughter will come, too, for mama taxi to work in the morning. No further early drives for us until the middle of the month at least, until she gets her new working schedule. Not angry about it, because driving in winter is not my favourite activity!
