Family day

I got up late, as always, but since Epiphany is a holiday here it did not matter. Hubby offered to help me with lunch- he loves to wield the meat hammer.I was doing beef roulades, so help was welcomed. But he who always complains about plastic particles in body wash and shampoo did indeed hammer the meat under the cover of a plastic bag, to avoid soiling the countertop. A bag I immediately confiscated. Each blow was bringing those particles husband is so afraid of into the meat we were meant to eat. First think, then act, I'd say. I never do beef roulades with gherkins inside- daughter hates them. But I love, practically need, the taste. So I smuggle some into the sauce, where they'll get pureed in the end. As long she won't see gherkins daughter will eat...
Sister mine plus family arrived earlier than expected. That meant that our after-lunch nap had been a short one. We had cake, we had cookies (you'll need both when sister's husband is involved) and lots of the famous coffee I got for Christmas. I am tempted to order more from this roasting house, even if it's quite expensive- but worth the money! For evening snack hubby had sliced bacon and cheese sausage (his favourite). I say that practically everything with cheese in it is edible. Daughter came in the early evening, trying to avoid the ruckus at our house. Unfortunely sister 's family was still with us, and we had lots of fun. When daughter told us that today she had to make a call for Mister Hiscocks, and twice at that, because he did not show up at the gate in time, we had to drag her cousin back out from under the table, where she had ended in a hilarious fit of laughter. Dear god, I would not have been able to do that call, I'd have died from laughter when reading that name only! Now sister is off, the kitchen is cleaned, dishwasher is on and I am typing while resting. Tomorrow I will start boxing Christmas decoration, a chore I hate. I watched a lot of reels on Youtube showing people dismantling their tree on Christmas evening. Maybe those dolts should not put it up the day after Halloween but at the beginning of advent (which is still too early) and wait with dismantling until the twelve days of Christmas are over! Blessedly not all of my decoration will have to go, winter motifs will stay for a while, because, you know, it's still winter for two more months. It's much cosier when having stags and does and snow-capped trees in the house. Even more, when temperatures outside are way too high...
