Battle-hardened
Feb. 12th, 2025 06:36 pm I am well accustomed to misery, and mostly family affairs are involved. See, it´s not so bad when the boys will have a sleepover on Friday, because their parents want to go to theatre and dinner afterwards. It gets complicated, when it´s once again hubby who thinks he has to invite the parents the day after- apparently theatre watching and dining and having a sound sleep afterwards is too stressing for the two to be able to cook the next day. Because the one cooking should be me. Should, because today I exploded. I told hubby to his face that he never had had any qualms of going out with his friends after concert while I supervised our offspring, which was quite exhausting at times- plus I often had to cook for the whole family, my parents included, the next day. When I was out of luck my uncle got brought along to our house, too. Besides, we are at day five without olfactory sense, and my catarrh got even worse today. I am hooting like a savanna elephant! That´s indeed one hell of a virus! So if hubby wants lunch he can do it himself. Period! I think hubby got it, the question is how long it will stick- at our age most people are quick to forget things that should be important!
Hubby was miffed and went out to buy more pork for bacon in revenge. I went to the conservatory to continue with Hogwarts- and promptly found that in bag number 19 a piece was missing- I cannot finish one of the towers. I will have to write to the company to send me a replacement and hope that I won´t have to pay six euro for shipping and six more for handling charge- that´s one twelfth of the price of the whole castle. Anyway, I will wait until I have finished all bags- only three more to go. Friday I will be wiser, when grandchild has finally built the ship he wanted to build from day one on...
My friend called again to ask me if I was better already. Now she thinks that I have caught Corona, which I haven´t. Hubby did a test on himself- he and said friend are corone hysterics, she even more than hubby. I will play dead to her for the next days, then I will be otherwise engaged by more grandchildren duty. Let her find another one who invites her to dinner! One thing I have learned- never spend more money than you are allowed to. Friend must not have heard of that rule. I do not know how many pairs of shoes are in her shoe cabinet, but it must be many, because she seems to buy lots of them during the year- trainers mostly, all expensive, all with those thick soles, because my friend is tiny. But who wants to spend their life in trainers only?
Since hubby was off for quite a while I also began with cooking a very late lunch. Turned out that the cashew butter I had bought wasn´t the best thing to go with spaghetti and mushrooms- way too sweet, even though one clearly could read use it instead of cream, best combined with noodles and vegetables . Ha! Haha! For once I was glad that I had the sniffles. Hubby said that it did not taste bad, only strange. Sweet is strange for me!
