Quite a few summer solstice bonfires all around- at ten in the evening they got lighted, and since I was not in bed then I took a cardigan and went to the open field to watch. I think it has been a while that the longest day of the year was not doused in rain. The cardigan had not been necessary, it was still warm. Was different at three in the morning- usually it's a twelve at six, cold enough to cool the house down without aircon. I got up at eight, read the newspaper we has picked up on the way to the airport, asked hubby when family number two was to arrive. Now guess who did not do the cooking! Hubby did tsatsiki then went out into the garden and began to inflate new toys for him (a new lounge seat, because the old had died on him a few days) and jet fighters for the boys ( with built-in spraying guns). Did not see the man much during morning, so I fried the chicken and cooked the base for the kritharaki, silently swearing and not so silently wielding cooking utensils. Even had to pick daughter up from work then put noodles and meat into the oven- and here they were, family number two and husband, who had miraculously resurfaced. Lunch was a success, and when all others did a nap daughter and I went to the conservatory and continued with the jigsaw. After a coffeebreak and icecream some time later daughter decided to finish the darn thing- and we made it, with the help of Cassian and Flavius, who patiently sorted the puzzle pieces by colour, carefully avoiding to disturb our work. Not an easy task when it was so hot in the conservatory and puzzle pieces tended to stick to the skin! There was no chance for me to get into the pool anyway. Besides, son was writing to-do lists for July, lists I am not interested in. My house, my rules, and if mummy does not like it she better stay at home instead of teaching the art of painting...
