Great, just great
Jan. 15th, 2026 06:58 pm Snow was melting rapidly at spring-like temperatures during day. Unfortunately weather forecast tells us to expect another cold wave soon, which of course will hit unprotected plant life. I hate it. Nurseries can rub their hands, there'll be plenty of clients come spring, to replace what frost has killed during winter. Another problem came into the open- our dailies reported that because of the lack of water the highly advertised ground water heat pumps did not work anymore in some regions. That's...so very unexpected:)
Hubby has been off to buy more meat to cure- he can do bacon only during the cold season. And since number one and two plus two neighbours have ordered a large quantity we are out of bacon at the moment, which is hilarious yet annoying at the same time, because I am so used to cooking with it!
I took all electrical lights out of the lanterns, since a lot of people began to notice that batteries tended to explode quite often. Maybe buying those cheap Christmas lights is not exactly brilliant, I thought (I've done so, too). But people also mentioned that their lights got bought in reputable shops, with the same outcome, which means that those shops buy the same crap, only sell them to higher prices. Hubby's job now is to find a metal storage box for all the batteries I took out, so that the house won't burn down if one of them decides that going up in flames might be interesting. I also managed to put away the major part of the Christmas baubles inside- hard work if one is so short and the baubles are high up! Also cleared the big glass vases from artificial snow, trees and tiny houses. I will have to look for new decoration now! Oh, I can already hear Cassian talking about the 'Has im Glas' (rabbit in the glass jar), because that's what I will do- put tiny rabbits and artificial spring flowers on a bed of moss till Easter. Cassian so loves to rhyme, gets after his father!
Hubby's car needs repair work next week, that's why we have to postpone our visit to family number three. Hubby wanted to go on Thursday now, the day dentist wants to remove the stitches. Oh well, we will manage somehow! It's not that I am keen to do that trip so soon after coming together at Christmas time!
Daughter arrived in the late afternoon, we did some crossword puzzles, I got told more about the hubbub on the airport caused by Scandi Air- they tend to forget their passengers' luggage and send it via lorry to our airport, but one week later only, when the tourists are already back to their home. Both daughter and I skipped dinner then and called it a day- three o'clock will be here too soon anyway!
