What the heck!
Jan. 20th, 2026 06:37 pm More headache feed: Foehn was blowing like mad during night. We left the house at three thirty and one and a half degree- plus. Twenty minutes later at the airport it was minus eight. When I came back home foehn had stopped and we were down to minus three already. That's odd. More odd is that no one here told us that polar lights could have be seen all over the country last night. Not a single notification in the dailies or on TV! In the morning I found all those pretty pictures and clips in the online newspapers, and on FB, and and... How am I supposed to watch Northern lights, if no one tells beforehand? Apparently our dailies are engrossed in articles about Trump, Putin and their fight for global supremacy. There´s no place for things of beauty..,
Daughter got picked up at the airport at one in the afternoon- she should have been on short duty, but since two ladies of the staff are pregnant and tend to call in sick at four in the morning only, duty roster is all for nothing. We had a late lunch then started with a jigsaw, using the last warming rays of sun in the conservatory. Then all three of us had a nap- hubby on the sofa, daughter and I in front of the TV, but only after listening to Mr. Vonihiho´s tales about ancient aliens. Vonihiho is based on Vokuhila (mullet) and expresses the good man´s superb head of hair: vorne nix, hinten hochfrisiert (nothing up front and back backcombed). The moment we see this expert we are ready to burst with laughter. After napping daughter and I ate the cake yesterday´s birthday girl (the lady turned 83) had sent me: a soft chocolate cake I surely would be able to eat. I am so glad when those darn stitches will be gone on Thursday- my tongue has found a new playground to annoy me!
Since my car was off again with husband dearest in the afternoon (his got picked up in the late afternoon only, even though mechanic told husband mine that repair work was finished before lunchtime) I was not even able to do a tour to my favourite KIK (the only one with plenty of parking space), to see if rumours were true and the shop was one of those to be shuttered soon. That would leave only options in the middle of town with no place for parking for me. According to our town´s vice major the future way of shopping: Come by bus or don´t come at all! I opt for the second and will do the trip over the border from now on- prices are lower in Germany anyway! Deprived of my car I moped the afternoon away, and at six I called it a day, went up to the studio and turned my PC on. Will have to download some fanfiction from AO3, since the archive will be down from morning on...
