At one in the afternoon DiL2 picked the boys up- Flavius had to attend a birthday party of a kindergarten friend (did not want to but had to go anyway), Cassian's old kindergarten friend did come over for playing. As feared, the boys were up at five thirty, Cassian doing the leading part in the Who's-going-to-rouse-granny game. Hubby always acts deaf (not that there's much to act) so the rascals concentrated on me. It did work, and at six I had two boys on my side of the bed. We started to invent silly stories in whispered voice. But when I told the tale of the Ohmythatchildstillpeesintothebed fairy, who comes with a big scissor, no, not to cut off certain parts of the anatomy, as the boys suggested, but to cut pyjama bottoms to stripes, so that those will look like hula skirts, loud laughter kept husband mine from pretending to be asleep. Of course, I had to show the rascals pictures of such skirts, more laughing when they saw the girls dancing, and fifteen minutes later we were down in the living room to have breakfast. There was plenty of time to decorate windows with felt rabbits, put tiny daisies (they're here, finally!) into egg shells, have the boys spread the remaining snow on the street for quick melting, before they had a healthy snack and started drawing. Cassian solved two sudokus (easy ones for children), read a bit from the new children's book and finally we started cutting the guanciale and pancetta for spaghetti Carbonara- had to add the second, because I did not have enough of the first, which is hard to get here and daughter will come in the evening (yay, more early shifts ahead!). I almost had to send hubby over to the grocery store for more pancetta- the moment I turned around little fingers were snatching cut pieces out of the pan. Those boys can eat!
Now we are back to routine- hubby did grocery shopping by bike, I hunted down most of the toy cars spread all over the ground floor, the house is mostly tidied up now. And I am bone tired and will do a late-afternoon nap...
