Gimme a break, please

noadvertisingOscar and Xaver did their best to keep four adults busy all afternoon long. Even aunt Lil was a bundle of nerves when they finally left. Normally dearest daughter mine has nerves of steel when it comes to little ones, and the little ones idolise her. But having to cope with two boys trying to get into her room while she had online lectures, the one kind where you have to have your camera on (that´s why she has tidied up her room in the morning, huzzah!) was too much even for her. At one point the little pests made it into her room and straight to the camera. Lecturer had a good laugh when she had a short but funny conversation with Oscar smart aleck, but aunt Lil was terrified. Lecturer taught Oscar two phrases in Chinese, which took some time, then the two brothers wandered off. I have seen aunt Lil only once since then, but I am pretty sure she is still mad at us. Son number one confessed that it took him up to three hours to get the deadly duo to sleep. And their mum comes back from hospital at ten in the evening, so no help on her part. They had wanted to keep to themselves until the end of January, when daughter-in-law´s job at the Covid ward will be completed, but poor daddy was a nervous wreck already, that´s why he decided to throw over the family´s plan of isolating themselves. Number one was going bonkers, having to care for his offspring while doing home office at the same time.
This morning I did some shopping in our local supermarket. Well, I did not do real shopping but threw some groceries into the cart then paid and fled back home. So many people on their way! What I do not understand: Is it really necessary to do a shopping tour with the whole family? I will not badmouth single parents who naturally will take their offspring with them, because where to bring the little ones when no one wants to supervise those tiny spreaders? Five family members in a shop seems a bit careless to me in times like these! But then, who wants to stay inside the whole time or take a walk in pouring rain, because all other opportunities to occupy your offspring are barred?
