They came late, as always, but they came nevertheless. Number two would not skip the possibility of getting beef, the sort of meat his wife never serves him because she does not have the knowledge of how to do it properly. Hubby insisted on having soup and dessert also. He can talk! The moment it was time to prepare dinner he was off, in the cellar, in the garage, in search for the paddling pool he had bought last year. It would be a hot 29 today, that´s why Cassian surely needed water to cool down! So I hammered the meat, all the while pretending I´d spank the bottom of the one who had brought up this situation. At least daughter mine was a big help! So this is was today´s menue: vegetable soup with semolina dumplings, beef roulade with tagliatelle and lettuce, strawberry tiramisu in a glass, and for coffee we had honey cake. I am done for today. Worst thing is that we do not have leftovers for tomorrow save for a few slices of cake...
Good thing about the afternoon spent in the garden was that the two tiny lilac trees in my garden will go to son´s house, as will the hibiscus that sprouted amidst a hortensia bush. Hubby will do the exavating, or I´ll unbox the meat hammer again! And now I will go down into the kitchen to grab some bread, then I will be off to bed and do some reading, before sleep will hopefully claim me. Hey, our idiot neighbour woke me up at five in the morning, when he shovelled gravel into his wheelbarrow!

And people say murdering your neighbour would be uncivilized! They don't know sh*t!

Your menu sounds yummy. Soup with semolina dumplings is a great favourite by us as well, although I admit that it always manifests in the form of Tütensuppe. We had exactly that today, from the day before yesterday, and I made Shepherd's pie for today and for the next two days. Sometimes a two-person household can be very practical. Besides, tomorrow is the big cleaning frenzy again — including the balcony that hasn't been properly cleaned since Mum's accident — so I won't have time to do much cooking. Especially as I'll have to make a food run, too.

The meat hammer sounds very handy. You should swing it threateningly more often. *g*

I have stopped eating packed soups, because I do not tolerate some of the ingredients, but then again, there´s not much to do for me now, so cooking is no problem. Sheperd´s pie sounds awesome. I know it is made with minced lamb, but I thought I´d give it a try with pork. Having to eat lamb is even worse than eating cauliflower. Our cleaning frenzy will have to wait until next week, when number three plus family will come for a visit.
