Feb. 4th, 2022 07:18 pmI did another trip to Germany in the morning, to meet up with an old lady who lives there. She is the only one of our distant relatives I have contact with, and she has to be way over eighty now. So when she sent me a postcard I decided to take her for a coffee into town then do some shopping afterwards. But, of course, I had to read all those Covid rules for border crossing first. Not that German border police will find fault with something!
I was back home in time to do lunch for the rest of the family-a cheer to Curry Udon because it´s so easy and quick to do- then backed out again to get more yarn for the baby blanket, this time baby blue instead of pink. Unfortunately the two pink rectangles cannot be replaced by other colours, or I´d have to start anew, which I definitely do not want. Flavius´s blanket has pink in it also! Won´t kill a male, I´d say, besides, I remember that the father had a lot of pink accessoires in his student housing! It´s a long time ago, but still! By the way, I have made it to letter P now! Tomorrow I will hopefully know which colour I will make use of for crocheting the rectangles together and do a broad boarder so that the blanket will be big enough for a babe. Could be that I will have to add additional rectangles on both sides. It´s not that I do not have the time, but I am not sure if I feel like it! Anyway, I will have to buy the wool tomorrow, it´s half price this week! After wool shopping it was watching the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics- oh dear, those Chinese might have the money but definitely no style!
After Tiny Tim had died an untimely death the storm died down. Now guess what we will have tomorrow? Yes, wind again, not a storm but presumably enough to give us another night of rattling blinds. And it will stay very windy over the whole weekend. Huzzah! I should go and search for a new charging cable for the tablet PC. The old one is broken, but I need more reading material for sleepless nights, which is all kept on my tablet. One does not simply turn the light in the bedroom on at two in the morning, the bed is guarded by a husband who turns into a dragon if you try this stunt!

Date: 2022-02-05 01:41 pm (UTC)We are expecting windy weather again, too. It seems to have been a very windy winter so far.
Your blanket sounds as if it coming on really well. My blanket only has 4 squares to go — there was a slight mishap when I realised the pink wool I had for alternate squares was not actually all the same colour — not just a different dye lot, which wouldn't have been noticeable with the blue squares between, but they had actually altered the colour they call Raspberry enough that it was a noticeably different colour, and I had to restart the pinks. Then to decide whether to sew or crochet the squares together — I am still unsure.
