Those cute little moths have made an appearance practically each evening, bearing me company when I was in front of my PC. I have sprayed the Persian carpets. I went through what´s left of daughter´s wardrobe. Went through my own- nothing. Today I thought that maybe knitting a pair of socks would be nice, and picked a ball of sock wool out of the wool box on the shelf next to my bed. Ow and ouch! Needless to say that the box got emptied immediately, its content now packed into plastic bags and put in the freezer, where it will stay for two days at least. That´s what one gets when buying pure new wool! It did not matter that I could not reach hubby on the phone to get moth balls. The freezer will do a better, less stinky job. Hubby came back late- he had to do a drive to a car repair shop to get his car tyre mended- the mechanic found a nail in it, for the third time now. We had that problem already some years ago, when hubby had called at the complaints office of our newspaper, because our paper was on the floor each day. Some days unreadable because soaking wet. Hubby did call this time, too- same problem. He does not like to pay for a thing he won´t be able to read. We had nails in our tyres three times then, but never found the culprit. This time hubby is intent on succeeding- the wildlife camera will be put into action for the next weeks. And since it´s our (and neighbour´s) private street we are even allowed to do so. This afternoon hubby watched last night´s recordings. The only one who showed up was our standard newspaper lady, a nice person I have talked with quite often, when I met her after retouring from the airport. No problems, when she is working, she always puts the paper into the box. Now hubby and I wonder what she has been doing tonight- she got out of the car, delivered the paper into the box, the camera did stop then for thirty seconds (always does so after ten seconds of filming), a new film sequence started and only then showed the lady getting back to her car. Distance from car to letter box is ten metres at the most. I hope that nice lady does not use our `backyard` to- pee? Smoke a cigarette?
The rest of the day was uneventful, as always. I did a letter for hubby for a meeting of pensioners of the orchestra- the former chief conductor will be in the country for a short time and wants to meet up. Why men can talk big but aren´t able to write a simple letter is a mystery to me. I did also answer the e-mails which had piled up in my mailbox afterwards. Nothing of importance- I get notifications on my handy, too. In the evening hubby and I will go through the list of books number three sent us. We will chose two of them for Elsa´s birthday and add a Lego to the presents, too. Hubby will finish Anne Applebaum´s Gulag today. He promised to lend me his ebook reader in exchange for the letter for the next evenings. I think that one day in the near future I will have to make the tour to the library to get me a new reader´s pass, so that I can borrow ebooks, too!
Today was a strange day concerning weather- warm because of foehn, at least for a while, until clouds sailed in. Unfortunately my cold is solid and won´t budge easily. Yet tomorrow we are said to be up to fifteen or more degrees- time to get outside and do some work in the garden. I noticed that the cornel cherry will flower soon! I so love those blossoms- they look like yellow tassels!
