For the first day in more than a week we hit 25 degrees. Hubby brought his tools (mobile, tablet PC, an arrangement of reading glasses) to the outdoor table, uncovered the sofa and took his after-lunch nap on the terrace. No wonder, he has been working from early morning on. First a bike tour to get the Sunday paper, then more pool cleaning, weeding, mowing the lawn. All I did was put all dishes in the dishwasher, turn it on, clean the kitchen and vacuum the floor, before I peeled potatoes, did a lemon sauce then wandered upstairs to take a shower then rest. Although resting was not exactly what I did- I was looking for twins I had in class until my last year of teaching- one very talented, one a squib when it came to music and art. Both seem to have disappeared from the radar. They should have graduated this year but won´t show up on the list. That´s strange, both having been tested for IQ, and both were far above average. Since my investigation was unsuccessful I did some repair work on my bathing suit and a blouse I wanted to keep- usually I will dispose of the old ones and buy a new, but not if I love a garment. My eyes were not amused- first the reading of tiny context then applying stitches, and all in dim light. They itched, they oozed (so nothing new on that front) and I decided to lie down and listen to music. That´s a new, usually I prefer silence. At one I remembered that I still had to cook the potatoes. Salmon had just been put into the oven, so I was a bit late. Now it was hubby who wasn´t amused. He was in dire need of a good, long nap which he usually starts dead on 13:45. Well, not today. Today he was late. Besides, all the tools he had brought onto the terrace had to get quickly evacuated inside, when all of a sudden we had another thunderstorm going. Imagine, a bit of warmth for the first time, and off the sun went with a bang. So what about the next heat wave? In August? Ooookay...
Daughter floated in at three thirty, drenched to the skin. That´s what one gets if one doesn´t read the weather forecast! The next two days weather will be pretty much the same, before temperatures will drop down to fifteen again. That will make another week with the boys having to stay inside mostly. I see ahead a lot of tidying toys away! The good thing is that the two will get picked up tomorrow morning only. They will have breakfast at our house, but one more night without having to cope with nightly flashlighting, wanderings to the loo and blazing suns in the early morning is a blessing!
