My neighbour told me today that our parcel delivery man got fired last week. I won´t say that I´m sad about it. That man had the nerve, delivering parcels at six in the morning in our street, which is a bit early, because everybody here is still asleep at this time, he entered houses when he found the door unlocked, not ringing the doorbell and waiting for the owners to come and get their shipments...In the end this was his downfall, when he went into my friend´s house, up to the second floor, where he met said friend stark naked save for a towel around her neck, at six in the morning. She had emerged from the bathroom, just having taken her daily shower, believing that no one of her family was up yet. Well, her family was still asleep while the delivery man was not. My friend had a screaming fit, this way waking her husband who tackled the deliveryman about his behaviour and afterwards called the post office and reported the incident. Apparently he had done the same before, because he got dismissed immediately. That´s good, because I have a son who usually orders goods twice a week but lets hubby or me get up to take his deliveries. At six in the morning, until now! So lets hope that our new delivery man will take it slower than the old one!

6 in the morning? Meep. And wandering around the house? Presumably looking for someone to sign?

Our delivery man usually comes mid-morning and tries the door first; if it isn't locked he leaves parcels in the area between the inner and outer front door unless he needs us to sign. But if he needs a signature he rings the bell, and if we don't answer he takes the parcel away again. Then we either ring to arrange a morning that suits or, more often, we go up to the sorting office to collect it. Can't imagine him even thinking of wandering in to find someone!

Our delivery man was a dubious person: As long as we had our hovawart he never needed our signature but left the parcels next to the front door and signed as a substitute for us. Now who wants to get run down by a 78 pounder who only defends its sleeping place in the hallway! With the dog gone delivery man began to ring, and soon afterwards he entered the house when he found the door open, and called out for us to come down. This happened when hubby had went downstairs before, to pick up the newspapers, and forgot to lock up again.
