Strictly speaking, I am writing this entry after our family´s yearly clash of religions belongs to history already. In terms of the bible: it is finished. No one was killed in the process. I had a lot of cooking to do for those who did not have a strict fast day. My daughter in law ( Romanian Orthodox) teamed up with her father and his companion. For the first time in twenty years I had to speak French, because those two do not speak English. Not a bit. Nada. Romanian easter is in May this year, so no fasting, but meat and cake and booze. Lots of booze, actually. My husband´s family left for their Good Friday ritual after coffee. Actually they did consume coffee only, which was annoying. They are Jehova´s Witnesses, so I steered clear of them or I´d get lectured about biblical events all along. If my memory does not fail me I am of Jewish descent. And no, Hubby and children are not Jewish, but Roman Catholic. My sister and her family tore into the beef, because Protestants may or may not eat meat on Good Friday. But boy, I am glad that it´s over. I had to organize this family meeting last year, and normally it was my sister in law´s turn this year. It was the forecasted snowfall that doomed me to host this meeting again. Better one family on the road than four. By the way, it stopped snowing before noon.Too late for me!
