Sound familiar? You are reading a book, and suddenly you are frantically scouring your bookshelf for the predecessor of said book, because apparently there´s a glitch in what you have just read. Oh, I´ve found lots of glitches, even in books I love. It would never have happened to Tolkien. Good old professor was refining his unmatched play yard day and night to eradicate all errors that might spoil his perfect world. Today I finished a book from an author I do appriciate, so I took a look at his blog, if there was another one from this series. Nope, no such luck. What I found was a chronology of political events that took place in his fictional world. Quite a lot of events. Plus the political developments of the countries where his protagonists live. Plus different calendars. Plus, plus...accessible for all of his readers...couldn´t Tolkien have done the same for us readers? It would have made it much easier for me to love him unconditionally! And a request to Christopher Tolkien: He is the custodian of his father´s work. There are a few topics that his sire was about to correct, for instance the case of two Glorfindels that he wanted to change into one Glorfindel reborn. Are there any datas to these topics? And why not enlighten us about these details?
