So son no.4 came home from Nova Rock on Monday, at 8:10 in the morning at the train station, to be immediately turned in at the bus station, for a week in Croatia, to study the behaviour of fish under water till afternoon (and the girls of his class for the rest of the day). When asked if everything had been okay he showed us a taped foot, mumbling about a tumble in the dark and a sprained ankle, nothing serious. Yeah. Sure. At home, we unpacked his baggage. Verdict: The original Mexican sombrero did not make it back, son phoned to tell us he went swimming and hat did not return to the riverside (must have been Lake Beer he went bathing, there is no creek there deep enough for swimming, the region is famous for being the desert of our country). The camp-chair did not make it back home, too. That´s the third one in a row, though this year we had bought a more solid one, 60 Euro apiece. The tent flap is missing the zipper´s sliding handle, the tent misses part of its ground sheet. We called our son back. Well, the handle went missing when son tried to enter the tent having had one beer too many. The ground sheet was burnt when the lads of his group smoked a water pipe inside the tent and accidentally knocked it down. Now I know why camping stoves aren´t allowed at the festival area. A few more maniacs, and the tent city would burn like Ancient Rome. The final blow to the tent was delivered by Namo. He peed on it, this way covering up the gruesome smell of stale beer and smelly socks, and that´s it. We are glad that son no.4 will not be able to attend Nova Rock Festival next year because of his school leaving examinations. No way I´m buying another chair and tent for him!
