The things I find in my house...
Mar. 14th, 2015 08:56 pmLast year I bought two cute little olive trees and put those next to our entrance door. In winter I took them in into the entrance area, to keep them from freezing to death. Of course I forgot to water them sufficiently, so some of the leaves bowed out. And then it was too dark, and some more leaves said bye bye. Then one day I found some odd shapes bitten into the green, and the next day even more of the leaves were blemished by semicircular bites. The first weevil was found in the kitchen, frolicking in the bay leef. Down the loo it went, of course after being thoroughly squashed. Next day I found another on the curry plant. This one did the hide-and-seek game only, apparently curry wasn´t its favourite flavour. Oh my, weevils aren´t bright, many of them were caught running along the doorframe, up and down, and up and down...At least this way the weevils did not make it into the winter garden, but yay, we had international weevil hiking week. Weevils, weevils everywhere! We played the "Shake and quiver, little tree, throw the weevils down to me" game by night and the "To catch a Weevil" game by day. Today I was finally sick of playing and put the olive trees out into the cold, regardless of weather. May the weevils munch what is left of the leaves, I have already ordered a mega pack of nematodes, to get rid of those blighters. As soon as the weather is warm enough we will play "The Empire strikes Back" game for a change!
