Yesterday I had to attend parent´s council meeting at our children´s school, being one of the unfortunates who had been elected to waste spare time by killing three hours listening to analyses about school budgets, plans for the oncoming school festival and lots of complaints about teachers. At least we had an interesting discussion of whether youths who had devastated some sections of the school, flooding three floors by turning on the faucets in the toilets, should be expelled from school or not. They were not, that´s good. They were not even punished properly, and that´s bad. All they have to do is to help with after school care two times a week for the next two months, helping students with their homework. I dare say that 16 years old who break in a school during holidays with intent to destroy, for lack of anything better to do, might not be ranked among the intellectual elite, so the outcome of this tutoring will have to be evaluated, come May. We will have to wait and see. Last point was the headmaster´s request for police control of the exit bay in front of the school. Apparently people use it as a parking space, which of course should be forbidden during class time. So after the meeting I headed for my car, passing by said exit bay. Police was already at work, tagging those unfortunates who had parked their car there, while police car was effectively blocking the exit of the roundabout next to the school. Distributing tickets at 9.30 in the evening! School closes at eight, so what´s the problem with parking during night? I have already sent a mail to the headmaster, to allow parking in the evening, at least as long as many of the street´s residents deliberately park their car on the side of the street that should be open for those who participate in the sports courses only. Residents have own parking lots plus the other side of the street, but it´s way more fun to block public parking space, wait until those who are in a hurry park on the reserved side, then call the police. That´s fun and brings a lot of money for the city treasury!
