I swear, I haven´t fallen off the earth. I only had a bit of a rough time these last weeks, having overdone things concerning body care, work and family.
Spending so much time in the sun this summer had left my skin tinder-dry, so I indulged in oil-based cremes thrice a day, especially in the face. The evenings I spent in front of Ashmael (my PC), arranging stuff for our Christmas concert. Did I mention that I really, really hate my music notation software? And my old glasses, too? My new glasses weren´t to be found (might still linger in Greece, haven´t seen them since), and using the old ones did not do the trick, I was not able to read what I had typed, so I made use of my contact lenses instead- until late at night, dry eyes guaranteed. Last but not least I helped my son out, ripping out the fitted carpet in the house he had bought last month. My goodness, there´s been a lot of dust and debris coming off by doing this!
One day my right eye started to itch, then to hurt and to swell, and I spent a few days in a row at my eye specialist. Good thing is that it´s nothing eye threatening. A chalazion will usually go away spontaneously given time. No more oily cremes for me but baby shampoo to clean the eyelids, eye drops, warm compresses and- ta-da- no contact lenses for the next weeks. Bad thing is that I look like a zombie at a Halloween party, when Halloween is still a few days away. And that I am supposed to teach with my old glasses though I cannot decipher what´s written in the scores. I´m afraid that my students will have a field day till my new glasses are delivered, which will be at the end of the week. Uh-oh...I am so screwed!
