Normally I am a sound sleeper, but with the heating on and the bedroom windows closed I changed into a restlessly tossing and turning continuant menopausal lady who takes delight in elbowing her snoring husband or reads for hours on end, thusly brightening the marital bed-chamber with her e-book reader. And there´s that strange noise coming from outside the bedroom. I heard it for the first time about two weeks ago but did not consider it of importance. There are more significant things to do at four in the morning, like sleeping, for example. Yesterday I was fed up with listening to hubby´s snoring and my tossing about and went to the bathroom instead. Buzzing was way louder there but stopped soon after, to be replaced by whispering. It took me quite some time to get my brain up and running, to identify that kind of noise, but then I dashed into daughter´s room, where I found my child happily skyping with her New Zealand friends. On a Friday morning. At four. She had set the alarm for 4 o´clock since the start of school year. Very well then, at least I know now why precious daughter mine staggers to the school bus like a zombie in reserve. Going to bed at midnight and getting up at four may cause damage to a teenager´s health. Not wanting to start an argument at this early hour I only told my child to keep her voice low, or her brother would confiscate her mobile to get two more hours of sleep, then went to bed again, to read another chapter on my reader. As from tomorrow I will leave the bedroom window open, better listen to cars outside than to buzzing mobiles of restless daughters!
