Since I have to stay at home these days because of a broken right pinky toe (would that I had broken my left one, so I´d still be able to drive my automatic) I rekindled my love for Tolkien and decided to reread the History of Middle-earth. Unfortunately someone must have borrowed the first two parts of the series and forgot to return the books. That "Someone" has been my daughter´s best friend, Saint Anna, the one who writes all of her tests with the help of her mother´s mobile, while the rest of the class has handed in their phones. So I asked daughter mine to remind Saint Anna to give back the books. Apparently Saints do not borrow books and much less forget to return them, because daughter went ballistic and declared that never ever had Saint Anna been at our house to hijack a book of Tolkien. To cut a long story short: I ordered the books a second time, and since hubby has Amazon Prime they will arrive tomorrow. I hope I´ll be fast enough to open the door before the postman buzzes off, leaving the dreaded "You may pick up your parcel at the post office next day", which I can´t because our post office is 4 kilometres away and I can´t drive because my foot doesn´t fit into the shoe- yet. To top it all I suffer from tonsillitis which does not exactly improve my mood. I should be out, tidying up our garden where the magnolia and the cherry trees are in full bloom. I should dig 20 metres of dead box hedge out. All I do is additional domestic work like oiling the cupboards and cabinets, using that special teak oil that alway gives me a headache. Great, just what I need! Now that I have finished with my rant about missing books, broken toes and swollen tonsils I have to mention that I still like Livejournal. I dread to think which responses this post on Facebook would have triggered, with daughter and Saint Anna´s mother on my friends list!

Magnolia and pink Japanese flowering cherry in full bloom.

Wisteria hard on their heels...while the roses did not survive this rather cold period in winter. They were grown in pots and simply froze to death. As did the white Magnolia, the bamboo, the trumpet tree...

And don´t forget to buy chocolate rabbits! The bigger the better!
