First one is not a language of its own but a German dialect spoken by my grandfather's second wife, the one he lived with after his first one had died. I had been not even two when she passed away, so I did not come to know her well, that's why I, unlike my father and uncle, had no qualms about unconditionally loving her- even though I did seldom understand what she was talking about in a dialect so strange. She had hailed from the most western part of our country, which is practically separated from state territory by a mountain range, hence the difference in development of speech, which stems from Alemannic German. Not many in the rest of the country understand what those people want to tell us, except when they are nice and speak German. Real German. I have forgotten most of the words and phrases nana has taught me in the short time she was with us. Grandpa had no luck with his beloved wives, they always died on him. On the other hand- grandpa made it to the ripe age of 99, so odds were in favour that they might not get that old!
