Feb. 25th, 2021 05:25 pmToday I did the first house plant-fertilising-marathon of the year. Filled the biggest watering cans I possess with lukewarm water from the tape and hauled all three to the conservatory, to put in flower fertiliser. Then I had to dispense the water into smaller cans, because the big ones are too heavy for me to water the plants in the upper shelfs of the flower rack. Hubby was watching like a hawk for me not to splash fluid onto the three precious floorboards he had placed over the basement shaft, even brought me some towels for me to wipe off any excess of water. He could have helped me by climbing onto the chair and do the plants on the top shelf, but no, his job was defending the wooden planks. So I stood on tiptoes to pour water for my three palmtrees - and promptly tweaked my back. Never had problems with that part of my anatomy when I was younger! Now I am resting and hoping that with the help of Voltadol I will get better soon. Not that I am keen to start working in the garden now that the sun has vanished behind the range of hills. It was 20 degrees outside at midday, but the moment the sun is gone you will know that it is still February. Besides, the willow trees are still blossoming, that´s why I am cutting outdoor work short to avoid sneezing attacks. Thankfully I have already pruned my fruit trees. Not that those two are big ones, but it involves a climb on a small step-ladder to grasp for the higher branches, which would be quite painful if I were to do it today, and tomorrow cooler temperatures and some rain have been forecasted. I will have to wait, to see if my plants and trees will flower and flourish. At least I was able to harvest nine lemons during winter, which is all-time record. Now if only one third of the flowers on my lemon trees would come to fruit I´d be a happy camper. Good thing is that the air in the conservatory is scented with the sweet smell of lemon blossoms. Better than any air freshener, you bet!
