This was what I found this morning. I have to admit it looked quite nice, though I prefer snow in December, where we had none, to snow in March, where no one needs it (especially since all ski lifts are closed now due to Covid). In the afternoon some of the snow had thawed off, which is good. Unfortunately it has started snowing again. Oh well, we will weather this out, as always, next week it will get warmer with each passing day.
At least three pleasant surprises happened today. My ring possessed Frodo figure arrived in the morning. I was told it would come in April, but - tada - here it is, and it has already joined the rest of the gang in the showcase. Now if only I would be able to get my hands on Treebeard, but this one is either no longer available or f...... expensive. Sadly I missed my chance at buying it two years ago, when GameStop had it in stock, and at 20 Euro at that! But it had been the day before Christmas and the shop was crowded and and...and then I forgot about it, and when I started to look after the figurine again I noticed that prices had went through the roof. I know, I am ranting again, so let´s shift attention to the next surprise: Elsa plus family will come for a visit for Easter, that is if our politicians won´t put a spoke in our wheel in form of another tightened quarantine. It might also be possible that number three ignores the orders, like he has done at Christmas, which is fine with me. Last Easter we were told that meeting with family was strictly forbidden. Only after the feast it turned out that our politicians had lied to us. We would have been allowed, only that they did not want it. The third good thing for today is that a friend will come for a visit in half an hour, bringing us those wondrous things Aldi sells to Germans. She is priviledged by having a job in Germany and living in Austria, so she can travel back and forth, while the rest of us can not. It´s all about quarantine again...
Quarantine must be trendy these days, because there are hard lockdowns across Europe now, followed by ruckus on the part of those who are fed up with being locked out of the life as it had been before. I dare say we won´t get that life back, no matter if we like it or not, no matter if Corona will go away one day. Funny thing is that our friends in the States told us that restrictions there had only been superficial ones in comparison to our no way forward policy, yet numbers are going down. Europe has had and still has way heavier restrictions but numbers are climbing again. How can that be? What is sure is that two birds got killed with one stone. In the name of Corona economy got annihilated as well as a big part of our basic rights, rights we thought we were granted for sure. If only vaccination campaign would pick up pace! Already some politicians here got fired because they have failed miserably by not even trying to order more of the more expensive vaccine when it got offered to our country, always relying on the cheapest stuff, stuff that was said to be available in galore now that so many stopped to inoculate it but, alas, had long left the continent for UK and the States. Imagine that, Europe produces the vaccine on the continent, provides the commodities but most of the good stuff trickles off to never be found again. Hello, don´t they have experts in the EU who can read delivery contracts? Apparently not! Meanwhile politicians are tinkering with a brandnew "digital green certificate" which will allow those who are vaccinated to travel. Now that I want to see, all over 70 travelling across the world and those who are fit for touring having to stay at home, because, so very sorry, we still do not have vaccine enough!
Hubby has decided that we will not book a vacation in Greece in advance. Most likely we will stay at home during summer. Sad thing is that I got a travel voucher worth 500 Euro for my birthday two years ago. Only that the tourist agency is now out of business because of Corona. I should kick myself for not having used it up when it was still possible!
