Cat versus dog(gie)

Hubby´s old colleague came for a visit today, husband and young dog in tow. The dog is not theirs but will become a assistance dog one day, that is if the black nuisances learns to obey. Young dog lady has to be either deaf or extremely stubborn. We have had dogs for about thirty years, but I swear, if our first one had been this disobediant I´d never would have opted for another one. Thus far she tried to climb the stairs the moment we did not keep our eyes glued to her (she is not allowed to do this because her breed is prone to hip dysplasia), she jumped up and down the settees (should not do this either because of the same reason), she cleaned out our cats´ food bowls while standing on her hind legs, even after we had placed them out of reach on the kitchen counter, stole the rest of the cake, she gnawed at our ankles (which hurt quite profusely) instead of chewing her dog bone. And then she tried to chase Vaire cat off her favourite place on the commode. This she should not have tried. Vaire turned into a miniature tiger and gave doggie a few not so gentle slaps in the face. You should have seen the way bigger doggie chicken out, nose bloodied now that an old cat lady had taught her manners. Vaire stayed at her lookout, dog stayed under the table for the rest of the visit. Namo cat had watched all this from a safe distance on the staircase to the first floor. We were able to listen to his displeasure at having such an annoying creature in the house. He was dismembering the cat condo in the meantime. Now I will have to replace the sisal rope soonest, because he old one he tore to pieces. I did not even know that cats were able to do this in such a short time. With doggie away cats returned to their mellow self, which is good because my nerves are quite frail now.
I baked my first bread today, and it turned out edible. I will have to adjust the baking time, it is as I have feared, our oven is not working as it is supposed to. The left section apparently heats better than the right one, so I had to turn the bread during the baking process. Not a problem if you want to bake bread but rather inconvenient if you want to do a sponge cake. Bread is already gone, together with a plate of hubby´s famous bacon. Guests never leave our house hungry!
Weather outside is still abysmal. It has been snowing almost all day long, and it gets colder and colder. At the moment we are at minus three. I wonder how many of the plants will die a sudden death in case we will be down to minus eight, as weather forecast has reported. It cannot be helped, we will have to wait for next week until spring will return to warm us up...
