Apr. 29th, 2021 04:41 pmWe got an appointment for a Covid test tomorrow afternoon. The only thing we have to consider is that we have to leave the town´s borders before 2 AM on Sunday, because the test is valid for 48 hours only. So I will be able to welcome the new tenant then have Romanian Easter. The three of us will get tested before the celebration, as will son and daughter-in-law. She had the organ screening of our grandchild-to-be today, while Cassian was with us. Fetus is okay, and it is a boy, again. Seems that boys are dominant in our family. Only Elsa steps out of line, but then her mother had three sisters. I drove to the wool shop after she had left and bought cyan yarn so that the pink I have already used will not stick out too much. I should have bought orange, too. Well, maybe tomorrow after testing. Last chance for buying yarn for a while, because my favourite wool shop is outside the town´s borders...
Tomorrow is Walpurgisnacht, the night witches were supposed to set off to meet up with the devil. It has been a pagan spring feast once that got turned into a Christian one, even though the rituals don´t work well with Christian believe. My friend and I had celebrated this evening for many a year. We had green snacks, drank Woodruff bowle and when it was dark outside we burned a strawdoll which represented winter. Ten years ago we were outside in the garden, when her mother called and told her that her father had just died. We never celebrated this day again. There´s another custom here called Philippinacht. Things not duly stored get carried to the church square by guys. After church the owner can fetch his property. Absolutely no fun anymore, because those young ones are mostly drunk and often wreck things.
We have been hoping for a warm and hopefully drier May, alas, seems it won´t be so. Hubby has water blasted the pool, now it is filling albeit very slowly, but weather forecast has predicted rain, rain, and even more rain, with low temperatures during day and occasionally frost during night. Hubby has promised to build a covering for tomatos and chillis so that they won´t drown. But for now he is battling with the dish washer, which died on us today...
