Jun. 13th, 2021 04:29 pmI now know that an authentic peach cobbler is pancake dough with flavoured peaches scattered over the surface. Easy to do, tastes nice, but not as nice as a crumble does. I was a bit confused, because my friend gave me a recipe once which I promtly lost, and on Youtube I found two very different versions of the dessert. One was clearly inspired by crumble, the other so similar to our Schmarren that I almost could not believe that someone would dare to drown the dough with juicy peaches. What I remembered from my friend´s recipe was that the dough had to go into the pan first, so I opted for the version with pancake dough. It comes handy that you do not need the strength of your fingers (mine are very stiff today from yesterday´s drilling adventure) but only throw the ingredients into a bowl, stir it a bit then pour it into a well-buttered pan. Like I said, cobbler was well-liked by daughter and hubby but not fit to hold a candle to a crumble.
Daughter unpacked the new jigsaw I ordered via Amazon. That´s so typical for her, she spread all puzzle pieces over the couch and the table in the conservatory, though she will leave for two weeks tomorrow. And she is the family´s jigsaw champion. I am more of a blind hen who occasionally finds a fitting piece. And now none of us will be able to make use of the conservatory until jigsaw is finished...
The most frustrating thing has happened to me. I created a folder for Christmas embroydery patterns I might use on the pillowcase- colourful ones, kitschy ones, ones children might like, and some classical ones. Then I found one I thought really, really beautiful. Not too elaborate, subtle, a twig, birds, some small festive ornaments. Just then hubby needed my help, and I thought I´d saved the file before I went downstairs to help him. Apparently I did not save, because today I have spent a big part of the day to find the pattern again, but no such luck. The only thing I remember is that it had been on Pinterest and that it came from a blog written in Cyrillic script. Such mishaps are annoying!
