Ham fiasco
Jul. 6th, 2021 08:16 pmDo not try to raise your child with fruits and vegetables only. The moment this child comes to another household it will devour all those things it rarely gets to eat at home. In honour of the new "heatwave" which started yesterday and will last until this evening, when another front of heavy thunderstorms is supposed to put an end to this beautifully hot weather, I did a simple noodle salad with ham for lunch. At least I tried so. But Cassian found the ham before the cats did and filled his little belly with as much of the rare treat as he was able to devour in the short time I left the kitchen. That´s a lot of ham that fits into such a small child! Hubby wordlessly went into the cellar and brought me bacon instead then went swimming with his buddy. Hubby killed the inflatable crocodile by jumping on it. Now he has to buy a new one, because this one had belonged to Elsa. Cassian could do without a crocodile in the pool. While he loves dragons and the Gruffalo- he almost fell from the couch twice when he depicted the Gruffalo monster in all its creepiness- he is very afraid of crocodiles, even inflatable ones. When his mum showed up in the afternoon she asked what her son had eaten for lunch. The little one showed her the noodles on his plate which did not fit into his ham-filled belly. Noodles, cheese and bananas, this was what Cassian told his mother. She was pleased that he had eaten a bit at least. What a relief that this little guy is not yet able to spill the whole story!
Today we harvested our first tomatos. Our chillis aren´t doing well, which is sad because the plants come from an established chilli farm and weren´t exactly cheap. But you get only vanilla ones in ordinary nurseries here, while I need the hot variety, so I had asked my son to get me some. Number three´s chillies are ready for harvesting. He bought them the same day he bought ours. But there´s less rain and more warmth where he lives. Not fair I´d say!
