Men alert

Not only since today I came to the conclusion that a kitchen needs a door you can lock behind you. Ours has two doorways instead and no doors at all, which is bad, really bad. It is as my friend complained (the one with the six boys, who was very upset that I had a girl as my last child and showed my daughter to her husband, to let him see how a girl did look like)- since her husband had joined her in retirement her life took a straight turn downwards towards insanity. I feel the same now, I only did not want to acknowledge the fact that having a man watching over every step you do can make you insane. Today I did goulash, and I swear, when I chopped the onions I was about chucking my husband out of the kitchen, and when he began to adjust the temperature of the oven to his liking (not mine) and swap the seasonings I did exactly that- I threw him out and slammed the not-existing door, to keep him from further interfering my cooking. There are enough places in the house he can wear himself out workwise, but not in the kitchen. And not in the laundry room. And not in my studio. But there must be some remains of a petulant child in a retired man that tells him ´Look, that´s forbidden, so do it´. Apparently most men over the age of sixty turn into a smartass when they have nothing better to do, but not in my backyard, this I had sworn to myself! Since daughter is away- she is quite good at verbally downsizing brothers and, occasionally, her father, too- it feels like fighting a lost cause. And I am livid about it.
PS: Just now I found the drying rack with the whites (linen tablecloths and napkins, yes, I am decluttering my linen closet to give away what I do not need anymore) which I had put up in the living room out on the terrace. Almost all napkins down on the red-tiled floor and now ready for another round in the washing machine. The strong winds outside that blew them down were the reason why I had left the rack inside the house...
