What´s up now?

Sister was here with her husband for a visit. She is very upset about the Covid situation we are in again. Germany and Austria- a never ending story about Covid hysterics and chaos. Oh my, they are so very worried about our health that they´d love to carry on the way they did last year. But enough is enough. They have stolen us almost two years now by doing the same all over again, which did not work at all, and they are at it again. There´s a German saying I cannot translate into proper English- Zu Tode gefürchtet ist auch gestorben. Meaning is that if you are frightened to death all the time there´s no place for life anymore. Fact is that a lot of people are vaccinated and one third is not. There´s always the risk of catching the virus, vaccinated or not, but if you are, you are a bit more on the safe side. So let Covid run through, some people do not even feel sick when they get it, most have symptoms of a cold and only a low percentage does get real problems or will die even. Problem is that one half of our family lives in Austria, the other one in Germany (we simply ignore the fact that there should be a few distant relatives who live in the States), and when they close the borders again we have a big, big problem. Sister has a flat inherited from mum which is not that far away from our house, and we intended to spend Christmas time together. I really hope that this time we will be allowed to do so. Chances are that it´s the unvaccinated who will be confined to their homes, but who knows what will happen!
Today I ordered Jane Austin´s letters, which might be a more interesting reading than her novels. These always make me fall asleep, which is a nice side effect, when I am wide awake at three in the morning. To top the effect I ordered Ulysses today for my Kindle. I started reading it a long time ago but never made it to page 100, which is less than a tenth of the novel. Maybe it will proceed better this time. Or maybe not...
