Number one won´t be able to come for Christmas Eve this year. The children are inconsolable, but Xaver has brought hand, foot and mouth disease into the family. It is not exactly dangerous, but it can be painful, and first of all the virus is very contagious, that´s why Oscar is not allowed to attend school. Last thing I need is another virus to worry about. Hubby will bring the family a sample of the things we´ll have for dinner, the presents the Christkind will bring in the evening are already in son´s house, and blessedly son number one has not forgotten about buying a Christmas tree. It´s a small one, but it will do. There´ll be tree, there´ll be presents, there´ll be dinner, no one will tell the boys to behave- what more could one want?
I was very brave today, I crossed the border to Germany and threw myself into the shopping hoopla. Daughter needed a special brand of hair care I did not find yet in our shops. Besides, Germany is way cheaper considering cosmetics and the like. And what an adventure it was! People, people every where, all shops crowded, so crowded that I did a dash along the aisles and left the minute I found what I needed. It´s not that I am terribly afraid of catching the virus, but the mask tried to kill me. I simply cannot breath under that darn thing, must be asthma-related.
Concerning food we had a very interesting day: Bircher musli and Greek yogurt for breakfast, Vanillekipferl and cappucino for coffee, mac and cheese for lunch and sushi for dinner. Daughter was delighted, she has been on an avacado and salmon diet in Finland. This reminds me that I have two very ripe avocados in the fridge, so Mexican food it will be for lunch tomorrow!
Hubby has put up the tree and has already begun to decorate it. I fear for the safety of my christmas bubbles! At ten I will have to pick up son number four who is one day early. Good thing is that he is used to stay in bed verrrry long, which is good because this one is a spoilsport ever since he was a child. Oh dear, if he caught me listening to Christmas songs he´d have a coronary! But he´s very good at cooking, so I will listen to the songs until he gets up then put him into the kitchen to do some preparations for Christmas Eve....
