I asked hubby in the morning to get me three pounds of pork belly for Saturday´s ramen. Belly has to get marinated for at least 24 hours. Hubby happily went away, just as if my wish for meat was a very welcome business for him. Maybe I should have had a better look at the leaflets the postman brought the day before, because hubby came back home not only late but packed with so much meat that I thought that I might have a coronary either straight away or after the consumption of what is to turn into bacon in the space of four weeks. Even if cured meat shrinks in weight- 20 kilograms of pork belly and rack of pork, all sans bones, seems a bit much for three adults. Our fridges are already full of bacon, who the heck shall eat all this! And hubby already talks about getting more loin! I think I peeled and squeezed garlic for hours, the whole house reeks of it...
Son has not postponed but confirmed his arrival for tomorrow. Not good for me, because now we´ll have full house. Only number one won´t join the party because two members of the family are still in quarantine. Hubby is at his best, adding his two cents to literally everything, drafting and discarding menus, doing more shopping trips. I have retreated to the studio, but not before I told him that the menu plan is already up. Btw, the meat I ordered for ramen went straight into the vacuum sealer and will end in the fridge as bacon. Hubby forgot in his meat delirium that there had been something he better not forget! I found another piece of pork belly in the freezer. It´s defrosting just now and will get marinated tomorrow. So much for cooking in advance!
