Aug. 29th, 2022 05:39 pmAutumn is here
The rain stopped during night, which is fine, because they promised nice, warm weather for today. Once again, I slept like a log, woke at seven in the morning and decided to get up earlier than usual. This is what I got to see...

Around midday the sun came out, and with the sun my mood got considerably better. I did Tom Kha gai for lunch, left out the champignons and tossed rice noodles into the soup instead. There's enough left for dinner, save that I don't do dinner. Not that this would make me lose one single pound of weight, but hope dies last, some say.
Hubby has bought a padlock for the garage door and a sensor light for the garden front. Huzzah, now neighbours might watch, if someone enters the garage from there- in case their bedroom faces the right side. Ours unfortunately is at the wrong side of the house. Maybe sealing the opening with wood and a glass door might be recommended? Too much work? Ah, that's exactly what I thought hubby would think.
After more than a week I took my knitting project in hand and promptly found the next error on my part. This way Elsa and Cassian will get their winter jackets next spring! I had to unravel a few rows but will only continue, when weather is bad again. For now I will enjoy two more days in the garden. Next week we have to sort out the tomato plants, and hubby will put up an ale-bench for peppers and chillies in the conservatory. As soon as I have fruits enough to do spiced oil and pickled chillies, those plants will have to go, too.
Nobody is perfect, so practically all our neighbours have a spleen, and half of them bats in the belfry. For days on end I wondered, why crows were besieging the roof of a neighbour's carport. Yesterday I finally saw her tossing meat and the like onto the roof. She fears that rats might infest her composter, if she puts left-over meat and cat food there. Dear lady, meat gone bad has to go to the residual waste bin. And please, do not forget to close the lid, as another neighbour does! No wonder that crows here love this place! I know that crows are highly intelligent birds. That does not mean that I have to love them. Especially their vocal phrasing needs an upgrade. Since all other birds are out of breeding season and do not compete in singing anymore, craws are the only birds you will hear in the morning!
