Surprise, surprise
Nov. 6th, 2022 07:20 pm I got up late today. Not much to prepare for lunch, next to no housework... I had not yet finished my breakfast, when daughter mine snowed into the house. A bit tipsy, dressed in a way I had not yet seen before, practically dressed for success what turned out to be success on a dancefloor- well, a wonder that I got to know this other side of her. Living on her own must have triggered the more adventurous side of her! Daughter and her former working colleague had been at a dance party in Munich, which lasted until five in the morning, then took the six o'clock train back home, daughter taking the first bus to the town we live in. Her friend's boyfriend will have been on pins and needles- he is a police officer, always ready to drive the bunch of girls (usually it´s four of them) to wherever they want to go in the evening of his free days, so none of them will strike on the idea of driving intoxicated. Unfortunately yesterday was no free day for him! But there´s worse than having friends like these!
Fondue was a success, if you ignore the buyer of the summer tyres, who showed up just when the oil was hot enough to start the eating process, and the fondue pot, which refused to reheat the oil afterwards, so that hubby had to bring the old hot plate up from the cellar. And that the sauce I thought no one would eat (my favourite one, tasting like the sauce you do for vitello tonnato, only that no vitello is involved) was the first one gone...
In the late afternoon both number four and five were off, back to their own apartments. Number four managed to unpack hubby´s bacon but now has a LoTR sword and Gimli´s axe in his suitcase instead. Hopefully he will restrain himself from unpacking it in the train, or there might be some ruckus ahead.
There´s another cold night ahead, with temperatures near zero. I will have to cover the lemon trees with foil. This year has been the first the two trees produced more than two fruits each! Later in the conservatory they will start to bloom immediately, and I swore to myself already that I´d water them more regularly, so that even more fruits will survive. I do not have a green thumb, and as soon as it´s winter I am in some sort of hibernation mode...
