Well, hello?
Dec. 7th, 2022 06:22 pm I am not a person who spends the time before Christmas driving around shopping for presents. But neither do I want to be confined to the house, because my car is not available. Today I got up early, did my daily chores then fortunately decided against taking a shower in the morning but left the house to pick up my meds at the drugstore. Drugstore staff insists that every customer take home free Covid tests and openly advises to be careful and not meet up with too many people at Christmas. That´s wishful thinking, I´d say! I also needed more cat diet food for Lady Vaire (yes, she is still with us). Last time I was in the pet shop, renal diet products were practically sold out, and when I had a look into Amazon, I found that the prices for this sort of food have been drastically raised- must be, because Christmas is near, and more people are stocking up their supply. At home I parked my car in the carport, found that hubby had already prepared lunch (spicy tacos) and went upstairs for more knitting while agonising about what to gift my friend for her birthday. Turned out that the agonising had given me a headache but was completely in vain, because son and hubby jumped into my car, before it was even lunchtime, and came back an hour later with a sofa in it. A sofa that will have to stay in my car until they will drive to Graz, which might be Friday or Saturday. Besides, tomorrow a dining table will join the sofa. Maybe I should add a camping stove and a heater and spend the next days in the car, pretending to be on a camping trip. A fridge won´t be needed, it´s quite cold outside. I thought I´d seen some snowflakes drifting by, but that could have been an optical illusion.
Hubby is antsy this afternoon, doing this, doing that, driving here and there (well, he is able to, his car hasn´t been turned into a car for migration). Must be because there´s no football (soccer, whatever) today. I wonder what he will do tomorrow, because there´s no football either. Plus a lot of shops won´t open tomorrow. For a long time there´s been fighting for open shops on December 8th (church holiday in Austria), and now the need for savings on electricity and heating and not enough staff puts an end to open-shop policy. Those who were used to work this day now lament the loss of quite a lot of money (double pay this special day). Trade union demands the payment without service in return. Hell, yes, I love those lunatics...
The stinky carpet is now in the living room, the wet patch placed on the radiator. Now the smell spreads all over the ground floor, and I walk by every half an hour, to spray the carpet with febreze. I fear that on Friday the last bottle will be used up, and I will have to buy a new one. Or discard the carpet. Would be a real shame, because it´s a pretty blue Gabbeh...
