It's thawing!
Dec. 19th, 2022 06:35 pm From minus ten to six plus in the blink of an eye- that's what we got today. In the early morning we had minus ten, and a few hours later we were up to six degrees. We can watch the snow melting away, and worst- it will stay this wwarm well into January. It's the same drama each and every year. Not that I am a big fan of snow, but still! Statistically we are supposed to have snow at Christmas every three years. Last time we had a White Christmas had been in 2015...
I turned the TV in the tiny studio on (for the first time in weeks) and am now watching documentaries about local Christmas customs. The most I love the music like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz7Qz2_CNLc - daughter and I played this one with an ensemble, but a tad less perfect, though still acceptable. Please mind- that does not keep me from listening to Heavy Metal, though less frequent the older I get! A bunch of elderly ladies had the most memorable scene in the documentary though- baking a non-sweet ring-cake together, each of them showing spectacular facial hair. That surely made my day, from now on I will neglect daily plucking! But I should quit watching those documentaries, they always seem to give me new ideas about baking and decorating and whatever!
Bringing daughter to her early shifts is definitely interfering with my sleeping schedule in a bad way. I think I will be awake at three in the morning (and stay awake afterwards for at least two hours) for the next days- without the alarm of my mobile. Now lets see how long this new sleeping schedule will last...
Still no inner lining of the cardigans done, but at least I sew all the buttons on! Not even that did work out the way I had intended, because I managed to lose one blister of black buttons, even though I keep all knitting-related things in the studio. My Weihnachtswichtel has to be a mischievous one! There´s a lot of things missing recently!
Tomorrow will be the last day for Christmas shopping. On Wednesday a friend of mine might show up for a visit, depends on if her coughing gets better. And Thursday we will have Cassian from midday on until next day. You better not shop for presents with a three and a half year old- you might end up getting pelted with questions at Christmas Eve, about why Christkind does the shopping via grandma instead of doing it personally! The house is mostly ready for guests, the fridges are full to the brim, the turkey is here already and will go into the brine on Friday. So all is well in our abode (except for the non-existent inner lining)!
