Finally!

Today I did it- finally stripped the Christmas tree off and put it to rest in our garden. May the birds have some fun hiding in the branches- not that we have a lack of trees here, but Christmas trees are special! To those who think that I am late- where I live, the traditional day for putting all Christmas decoration away is February 2nd (Candlemas). On this day the light of the trees in churches get switched off, and nativity scenes will get stored again for the next ten months. A Christmas tree kept until this date has to be in a cool room- our conservatory is ideally suited, because it´s indeed cool in there, and the roof is high enough for a tree which is 2,50 metres at least. And yes, I was one day late, that´s because hubby was away yesterday- he is tall, the tree is tall and wide, and I am a dwarf (and wide, too). Conservatory seems a bit empty now. That feeling will go away the moment hubby brings back the palm trees I had banned to the cellar.
We had a nice breakfast-brunch with daughter mine, she got her presents, we did some crossword puzzles with the help of Alexa- it´s so much fun to ask her questions! Either this electronic device is deaf or outright stupid, but the answers she offers are too funny for words. Hubby must have thought daughter and wife must have gone nuts with the two of us screaming with laughter. Daughter got brought back to town then- she had to bring the presents up to her flat (7th floor, lift broken) but had a date for lunch in a Vietnamese restaurant together with her best friends at one in the afternoon. It´s four of them, their birthdays close together, so one day they decided to celebrate the occasion with a joint lunch in a restaurant. Sis and I do the same, this year it´s her turn to choose the place and my turn to pay. No more agonising about what to gift, but quality time for us old girls and our even older husbands!
For the next days I will have to keep a close eye on the weather forecast- this year I won´t miss the best time for pruning the fruit trees, a job I am not fond of, but hubby has no clue how to do it :(( Hopefully there won´t be another cold spell in February! At the moment we have warning level orange with squalls up to 90 km/h and oncoming sleet. I know that I´m whiny, but there´s another night with troubled sleep ahead...
