Here comes the sun
May. 4th, 2023 06:19 pm My car was off twice today- I did not mind. Hubby was off thrice (car two times, bike one time) I did rejoice not mind either. After all he is shopping for adequate shelves for number four. We will be off to Graz on Sunday! We had planned the trip for last Sunday, but scarlet fever had confined me to the house. When I woke this morning it was quite early, but I was out of the bed in record time- the sun was shining! After doing the usual housework I was out in the garden, trying to keep up with things that should have been done earlier in spring. The dwarf maples turned so big that I will have to cut back a few branches, before the neighbours will complain. The bamboo has not made it out of the pot but gets higher and higher- that´s hubby´s part, to cut out a third of the shoots. Around the tiny pond it´s always spider alarm! The cherry blossom tree looks definitely sick, but I think it´s because of the many blossoms frozen to death during the long freezing cold period in spring, which are still on the branches. Magnolia needs more pruning, but hubby would like to saw the whole tree down. Now I know that it´s too big for the place it grows, but as long as it stays on our side of the garden it will be allowed to stay. There are lots of teensy-weensy cornelian cherries on the Cornus mas, I hope that those will make it through the summer, I love to make jam out of them! And I treated the quince tree, which will start blooming for the first time anytime soon. If only we´d have bees here! Bumblebees we have , but bees... It´s fun to be outside at such a fine weather. The trees I am allergic to are blooming no more, so no sneezing. And hubby has brought the chairs out of the garage! Needless to say that I had a short nap in the sun after lunch and was soon up and running again. If only the fine weather would stay longer!
