Song contest
May. 14th, 2023 06:10 pm It was a close call- we arrived late, I doffed shoes and jacket and grabbed the pizza then up to the studio it was. Daughter had indeed prepared everything for watching, even brought the foldable mattress up from the cellar. I heard the Austrian contribution only once and was not taken with it, and even less when I saw the two on stage: Beate Uhse XL meets forensic scientist, together they kill Edgar Allan Poe. It was fun to watch the contest, and even more so when daughter, Tolkien fan since her childhood, began to spin a story: Norway provided Sauron´s bride, Germany Sauron, Moldavia did the scary musical background to the wedding ceremony, and Prince Fingon aka Serbia was made to watch, which gave him nightmares. And then came Croatia, and I totally missed the British contribution, because daughter and I had one laughing fit after another. We went downstairs to have a drink after the competition, watched the show then went to bed. In the morning hubby told me that the one who had squealed the loudest had won. Okay, that had been Sweden. The sloth in the toaster who roars for help. Sorry for all those (okay, not that many) who did a decent singing. Not so sorry for Germany- this is European Song Contest, not Wacken. but I have to say that I did like their song. Only that they presented it in the wrong place.
Today I woke late, of course. Hubby had prepared a breakfast with salmon and also did lunch (steak with garlic bread and grilled mango- we have Mother´s Day here today. Loved lunch way too much! Afternoon got spent with telephone calls. Son number two sent me a very cute video of Flavius, who finally is starting to talk. Oma, Opa- okay, he is trying hard. But the name of his aunt comes quick like a shot.
No knitting done today, because my hands are peeling off. And because I am peeling, the skin on my fingers is so thin that I get cuts even when I am squeezing my medication out of their blisters. I can do many things, but knitting with plasters is a technique I haven´t mastered until now. But the back part of the second layer is done already, I only need to attach it to the main body...
