Rain, rain, go away
May. 15th, 2023 07:37 pm I hoped that all that bad weather would finally come to an end, because even though weather forecast had announced rain all day long on Mother´s day it had been cold, but not too wet, with sunshine even. But it started pouring in the evening, and in the morning I found a veritable puddle in the conservatory, when daughter and I wanted to continue with the new jigsaw we had started the day before. Hubby climbed onto the roof but did not find the place the water gets in. What a pity, because even though the temperatures are supposed to climb up to 20 degrees from Friday on (wow!), the rain will stay- not a chance to clean the tin roof and put silicone into the gap! At least there´s no water under the window this time! First thing daughter did was rearrange the table- she does not want water drip onto the jigsaw!
Since I was very careful when touching sharp things- even wore gloves, when I pruned the olive trees- I was able to remove the plasters from my fingers. First thing I did was add four more rows to the second layer of Elsa´s jumper. DiL is definitely no fashionista and dresses her daughter the way she dresses herself- take one stylish dress (shirt, whatever) and combine it with the most unsuitable items you can find in the wardrobe. Plus there´s an iron rule- each shirt or jumper must reach the buttocks. Elsa´s jumper I knitted longer already than the pattern suggested (it was supposed to end at the waistline of the jeans), but two centimetres more would put me on the safe side. That layer is now attached to the main body- I combined knitting with rehearsing curses in English and French- and the first rows of the second layer of the front part are also done. I am pretty sure that tomorrow my main occupation will be knitting, aside from doing housework in the morning and some jigsaw with daughter, who values the quality of our internet connection and will stay with us until Wednesday, because today´s and tomorrow´s lectures are held online due to the train strike that did not take place. On Wednesday she will finally return to her flat and save her broccoli from wilting, and I will be left with 1800 pieces of jigsaw that still need to find their place...
