Expensive taste
May. 18th, 2023 06:30 pm Grandsons number three and four both love berries- the more, the better. All in all they had 300 grams blueberries and 150 grams of raspberries today. After they had finished the berries, they found the cookies hubby had bought for coffee. And because their mum did not allow them to have any after such a load of berries, Cassian waited for the moment we were out for a short time to help hubby with the pool. I swear we were in the garden for about five minutes, but when we came back in, the two had eaten half the box. The boys will be back tomorrow. Hubby already told me that he´d buy more berries. I hope he will opt for strawberries, they are cheaper at the moment. And more cookies. And bananas instead of apples. I wonder how DiL manages to get along with the housekeeping money with boys that hungry!
Hubby did a lot of pool-cleaning today. So glad that I am in no condition to help with that part. The cleaning agent smelled so strong that I did a race back into the house and went in search of my asthma spray. And daughter was online, having a meeting with her colleagues, so poor hubby was all alone :) Greek cooking got done in record time, I marinated and roasted the chicken, did the kritharaki (best treat them the way you´d treat risotto- roast them in olive oil until they get a bit translucent then deglaze them with white wine and chicken broth), then tossed everything into the casserole, the big one, because we were five adults and two little persons with a big appetite. I put some of the furniture in the studio to the right place (daughter mine had relocated some pieces for the song contest), started with the cardigan for Elsa and finally put the casserole into the oven. Lunch time was at two in the afternoon, and at five family number two left, and I was able to clean the kitchen, have another coffee and enjoy the rest of the church holiday. With the cold weather we were at least able to have a decent sleep in the morning. Ascension Day is also Father´s Day in Germany, and those fathers who love biking often end on our side of the border, to do the two mountain roads we have in close proximity. On such a day you will voluntarily get up early, because all that noise from the bikes will keep you from sleep!
