Race against time
May. 20th, 2023 07:48 pm Whilst I did the housework quite unhurriedly, a bit here, a bit there, and Cassian in between, wanting snacks or berries or me to read him a book, I made a quick mental evaluation of how I´d tackle the new cardigan for Elsa. And then I almost went into hysterical mode- that thing has to be ready, when we will go to son´s house for the first birthdayx of Matthäus, which is at the beginning of June. Darn! I thought I´d have more time! But all I did know in the morning was the stitch count and that I´d have to do parts of the cardigan with the complementary wool I already used for the jumper, because, you know already, I bought one ball of wool too little, and when I wanted to restock, the colour I needed was sold out. So I plunged into knitting after lunch- and had to stop soon afterwards, because that special wool is a pest- my eyes have begun to itch again. Darn again! Hubby brought me the safety glasses, but only after he had turned the content of his work room upside down. Please note- never give husband mine things you might need later. It´s hard to get them back! And when I finally was in possession of my glasses, sister, her husband and her daughter showed up and were very happy to sit with us for a long time. Tomorrow I will have to do a knitting marathon, or I will have to accept defeat. If only those rows weren´t that long! At least I know now that I will keep the pattern fairly decent. Gradient and complementary wool have to be enough! We had fairly warm weather today (23 degrees), but not enough of sunshine in the morning. Cassian had found his Playmobil parachutist and let him fly for about half an hour- poor hubby was supervising him with this task. What a stamina those young ones have! I unearthed another batch of wild strawberries- the first one died in the pot, but I had killed most of its roots when excavating. This time I got the roots out without problems thanks to the rain which had softened the soil. Since I had to get up way earlier than usual (crows have been at work from five in the morning on, and Cassian, too) I might skip the daily crime thriller on TV and read some fandiction in the studio instead. Haven´t done so for a long time, unless the stories pop up in my journal. The wing chair I got from DiL is so comfortable that I´d fall asleep in front of the TV anyway!
