With no more cats in the house hubby indulges in the things he had not been able to do before, like leaving all doors wide open and let fresh air (and spiders) in. Today he started with the door to the conservatory- no cats, no grandchildren, so no need to worry about the highly poisonous plants on the shelves (even though the worst one ended up in the organic waste bin). The window in the TV section followed soon after, and from midday on the terrace door was kept wide open. I watched the thermometre- temperature was climbing rapidly, outside and inside. At three in the afternoon I asked my husband if he guessed the temperature in the living room. He thought it was about 22 degrees, while in reality we had 25,6 degrees. I will go an hide all remotes of the air conditioning units- maybe he learns from his mistakes! Not for nothing I kept terrace door and curtains closed on hot days!
Needless to say that not much knitting got done on such a hot day- the wool did stick to my fingers once too often! But I had one front part ready in the afternoon and the intention of doing more knitting in the evening, which I thought was a good idea. Not so good was that daughter had opted for a second early shift. Now it´s Friday and Saturday we will have to get up at three in the morning. But the time after is predestined for being lazy with a lot of sitting and knitting. Besides, there still was today´s knitting after the sun had set. I only had to cut off the bluish part of the wool for the back part of the cardigan and continue with the pink-grey-lilac one. And then it happened- wool explosion. Wool was neither cheap nor expensive. But the moment I removed the ball band it threatened to fall apart, which I had never noticed with the wool I had bought before- and fall apart it did. I saw too late that the ball´s innards had mingled with the outer part and started an unholy but very close and intense liaison I had to entangle for more than an hour. I was so close to take what was left of the ball (two thirds) and throw it into the bin- only that I am short of this sort of wool. My only hope is that the other balls will behave!
