For the last pool day hubby allowed our grandchildren to turn the counter-current system on, and within a second they turned from ´water is too cold´ to ´I do not want out anymore´. Of course, we adults had to stay in the water with them, because only Oscar can swim. Xaver and Cassian not so much. It was jump into the water vortex, get adrift, climb out, da capo. Then I lost my glasses in the tohubohu, and it took us some time to locate them, with Oscar bringing them back up from the bottom of the pool. Phew! Now my bladder has to recover, no more used to stay in cool water for such a long time! Boys are off, I warmed up under the duvet and am as good as new now...
Daughter has left after lunch, with half a loaf of banana bread. Let´s call it a loaf, I was not able to locate my pan yesterday, so I took the one for bread baking. And the boys now sing the Bananenbrotsong perfectly. Of course, it was aunt Lil who showed it to them! That´s what aunts are for! Poor Harry Belafonte would turn in his grave if he heard this! Aunt Lil will be back Thursday evening, she will accompany us on our trip, will have lunch with us then will take the train to Vienna, to meet up with friends. No clue when she will be back, but we did make huge progress on the jigsaw, two thirds are finished, the rest can be done alone, or with hubby´s help- there´s only place for two people working on it, and until now it has been daughter and me...
Once again our zoo hits the headlines- a keeper got killed by a rhino. We had gepards on the adjoining fields, and penguins and kangaroos waddling and hopping around, all of them freed by radical animal rights activists. But this is by far the worst! The Africa compound is huge, but there´s renovation work done at the moment. We were there a few days ago and watched a zebra stallion go berserk, when workmen entered the corral! Maybe the only animals kept in zoos should be gummi bears and sour worms. Harribo would make a fortune!
