Mushrooms!
Sep. 25th, 2023 07:37 pm A neighbour's friend brought her chanterelle and porcini. She kept the chanterelles but gifted me porcini. Very good for me, I dislike the yellow blobs. Must have had too many of them. When you leave my sister-in-law's house and wander up the hill a few minutes, you will find chanterelles aplenty. There were times when we had them for days...yuck! I did risotto with porcini and parmesan, and salsiccia of the spicy sort. There's enough porcini left for another meal, maybe with chicken breast, don't know yet.
Each evening I am totally surprised that the day is already over. I have not done overly much, especially gardening, though much needed, is still impossible. I accompanied husband mine to the back of the house and showed him which trees had to be cut down- it's mostly staghorn sumac, which pops up every year and grows like mad. Pretty trees, but our garden is a small one!
We are back to summery temperatures in the early afternoon, but during night we are under ten now. Time to close the bedroom window and open the one in the studio instead. Today I woke with a stiff neck- I think my body wants to tell me that there's a duvet I should use!
Tomorrow it's me who will pick Cassian up from kindergarten- shopping time with the young one. Today I got him a Booo- shirt with a monster on it. For some seconds I thought to buy one for Elsa, too, but since I found no monsters with glitter I bought a Booo for Flavius instead. Hubby just decided to join us on our Halloween- Christmas- decoration shopping spree. You'll never know what a little one is up to- I vividly remember our number four climbing a tower made of bedframes, while I tried to catch him- and promptly had my water breaking. The salesgirl got into hysterics, she thought I'd fall over and have the baby in the showroom!
