This night´s dream offered me an idea for a story I might write one day. Though once again the flat I grew up was involved, the plot was a dark, utopic one. Is there a parallel universe? Since when do elves travel by space ship? And do we really need another kinslaying? And what does the old place of execution have to do with Glorfindel´s demise? I must have read too much historic stuff lately! Currently tour guides bring people to three places in town, where executions are said to have happened. The fourth one had been lost during the Second World War, when bombs destroyed the Hexenturm, where witchcraft trials took place. fine with me! Number one of those remaining places has been for the execution of cabbage heads only- the building is from 1360 and was the place, where the wardens of the abbey´s cabbage gardens lived and defended the vegetables from being snitched. But it lies on a tiny hill in town and is very picturesque, and half of the population believes that it has indeed been the home of headsmen. The second place was an execution site until 1599 and is now a place of reflection with its three crosses. Last place is the house of the last headsmen, inhabited until 1820 and now only fit for demolition. After the last official executioner had died it got bought by a farmer´s family. It was not that far away from the house we lived in, and from earliest childhood on my sister and I counted the enormous quantity of cloth diapers hung up on the clothesline, when we walked by. Those farmers must have had a never ending supply of babes but definitely no interest in keeping the house in a good state. The dailies have been full of reports during the last weeks- save it or tear it down, honour history or ignore it. If I had my way they can tear it down. If they want to honour history they can excavate the bones of those who got executed and buried along the path of the deads, after they had been lying there for weeks and months even, the archbishops thinking that this would be a good way to keep others from commit atrocities. Strange that all those reports triggered such an eerie dream! I woke at two in the morning writing down what I had dreamed, went to the loo and promptly continued with the same dream. More writing down ensued, and hubby was not amused because of the mobile alighting our bedroom. Sorry, hubby, but in this matter I am very consequent!
For today´s lunch I did Indian dishes- homemade thali meal with kofte, sabij made with potatoes and green peas, spinach raita and paratha. Took me quite a time, but it was totally worth it. I already dread the time when I will have to drive to the shops for fresh chillies- oh those exorbitant prices! My habaneros did well this year but are for chili powder only and a batch of homemade Korean chili-garlic sauce. To be honest- for this sauce I will only need two of them, I do not want to kill my family! The second plant did well, too, after it had recovered from being overrun by strong winds. Those chillies are spicy but not deadly like the others!
Tomorrow there will be no grandchildren- yay! On Friday there will be two of them. On Saturday hubby has invited for Oktoberfest, with Weißwurst and Leberkäss and me being hysteric. And son number three has inquired if Elsa is still invited to do Halloween decorating. What? I think it´s about time to have a word with hubby, even though I think that not even he is bold enough to invite the family´s siren! Maybe her mum is in dire need of a wellness weekend, and daddy is not fit enough to take care of his offspring?
