Hubby did work at son number two´s house. Weather will change from almost summerly weather to late autumn on Saturday, so he wanted to continue with building the new terrace. It did not turn out well. Hubby cut his arm, and guess who did not react to his ringing the doorbell? DiL, off course, who was still fast asleep with Flavius- at almost eleven in the morning. Okay, Flavius is still suffering from HFMD, but mummy is not! Hubby had to use the content of the first aid kit in his car to dress the wound then drove home to let me do the rest. It´s not that bad, but still... Don´t think that hubby is keen on doing more cutting of steel bars and placing concrete, a thing he had had in mind for Saturday. Son told him that he´d be available for one hour only, because he, too, had to do some resting to be fit for the big 40-party of his best friend. WTF is it with the younger generation? We had five children, a job both (okay, I did part-time teaching) and built a house. Unfathomable that it had been me who concreted the exterior stair with the help of my father, because hubby came home from work late and winter was looming! And it´s still standing!
I did a lot less of needlework than I had intended. But since weather will take a turn for the worse I did some work in the garden, killed most of the tomatoes by plucking the unripe fruits and throwing the plants into the organic waste bin, brought in a few plants, which won´t tolerate temperatures down to zero and enjoyed the rays of sunshine on the terrace while reading the dailies afterwards. Grandchildren duty will start tomorrow only, thank the Lord! Though I think it will be official Halloween decorating day tomorrow- Cassian has gotten wind that Elsa wants to decorate, too, so he will try to use up all the things we have bought. I think we will do the bird-mummies- scissors and glue is what Cassian loves! There´s a lot of construction paper left from Oscar´s love-origami period, which lasted for about a month but ended with hubby buying tons of paper for him.
Last week was official sausage week, this week it was the week of toasted bread- burgers, ham-and-cheese sandwiches, egg sandwiches- we do not waste perfectly fine burger buns! But tomorrow I will do Weißwurstgulasch with pretzel sticks. Husband mine is already on alert despite the fact that it´s me whose grandmother came from the Bavarian side of the border (so I might feel offended by dismembering perfectly fine sausages), while hubby is more adept at eating dumplings (he comes from Upper Austria, our dumplingland). More needlework will get done tomorrow morning, using the last day of sunshine, before I will butcher the Weißwürste and infuriate my husband! I am pretty sure the boys will love their lunch!
