About presents and cooking

 This year´s Christmas presents included a load of spirits for me (six bottles of mulled wine from an organic shop, cordials), hot spices, cosy casual wear, jigsaws (I think I will be occupied for the whole next year), cosmetics and a laser for removing hair (yay!!!). I do not know who had this remarkable idea for a present, but I want to thank her/him this way, even though she/he won´t be able to read this entry! My hairline recedes on my forehead, new hair sprouts on my jaw-line- but not on my watch from now on!
Family number three left at ten in the morning. Return to silence, the house is clean again. I think I put the decoration to its correct place every hour- not, because I am a bad grandma, but because I needed paths to cross the rooms. Two of the freshly washed couch pillows and blankets are in the washing machine just now, because son is not yet able to screw the bottle with Elsa´s cocoa together correctly. After that we need to wash five sets of bed clothes, which should be hung up before we go to bed. Should be dry in the morning, because tomorrow sister and her family will do their yearly Christmas visit. I think that I am bad older sister now. Little sis just phoned and asked, if we´d cook something for lunch tomorrow. And I said something like "Do we really have to"! I have been cooking three days straight, for eight to ten people each day. Today we had leftovers from Boxing Day, and I was delighted- I have had high hopes for not having to cook for the rest of the week- so many leftovers in the fridge! No more soup, main dish, side dishes, dessert, and afterwards cookies and cake, at lest until New Year´s Eve, when we will have guests again. My kitchen has been a battlefield for days, and now this! I have offered little sis an alternative: murgh ka makul, some Indian dish made of precooked chicken meat. Will replace chicken by Christmas turkey leftovers from the freezer and serve buttered garlic bread instead of naan. Problem solved, I´d say!
