Too lazy...
Jan. 3rd, 2024 06:24 pm ...to leave the house today. Not for the first time during the last days I overslept, had a really late breakfast then pondered about the dream I had last night. A dream I continued with, even though I got up twice for a trip to the loo. I really should not watch any television crime thrillers or read articles in the dailies- apparently my old brain mixes things up and makes a solid horror story of the details it remembers: I was living in a strange house with family members I know, some of them already deceased, which was generally upsetting. Then I found one son of mine, no clue which one, sitting in bed, bemoaning that he could not breath properly, because that thing in his nose was hindering him from breathing. I went for scissors, and we went to my parents bedroom, where they sat on a mattress on the floor, while son and I climbed onto the naked bedframe to get more light from above. Turned out that what I thought to be a thread was something very solid, like a shashlik skewer we could neither cut nor pull out, and that it must have come into the nose and whatever parts it was buried in by fireworks. I woke bathed in sweat, got up, went to bed again and was trying to cut that darn thing again. Woke again, lay in bed for a while, got up to have a glass of water, and when I fell asleep, son was in the casuality department, while I was looking at mug shots of people I did recognise but could not remember the names. Awesome, I am reenacteing Alzheimer in my dreams!
After breakfast I went into our dreaded cellar and dragged some decoration up for disposal- paper stars without the lighting hubby had thrown away (totally understandable, since one of those had begun to scorch once). Metal ornaments, kitchy angels not even daughter wanted to put up. There´s so much clobber in the cabinet that I have to declutter, before Christmas decoration can be stored next week. I always wonder, why so many people have already put their trees and lightings away. Maybe it´s because all the deco gets hung up so early! Our tree will wander into the garden next week. Usually it will stay in the conservatory way longer, but this year daughter and I need the space for doing jigsaws. I think it´s six of those waiting to get put together...
After decluttering it was midday already, and I made me a cup of coffee, only to notice that our coffee maker had a relapse and a hard time to push the hot water out- oh what fun, the repair shop is open every Thursday, from 7:30 to twelve. So very amusing! Hubby went to a shop and bought a selection of coffee capsules for daughter´s old coffee maker. This will have to suffice until next week...
In the afternoon I rearranged the outdoor decoration, so that it will look pretty, when we get snow. If we get snow. Until now the only thing verified is that it will get considerably colder, with lots of snow in some parts of the country. We will see how this goes!
Friend with son-in-law with Covid is sitting on needles, because her daughter, too, has caught the pest. Now friend can test if her vaccinations (six of them!) will work! Chances are that she has a mental breakdown before getting Covid...
