Triple gah
Aug. 17th, 2024 03:23 pm I did the usual housework, while hubby was off doing whatever ge wanted to do, then I made myself comfy on the bed for reading- lying feels better on my aching hip than sitting. When I came back down hubby was on the terrace picking elder. He reminded me that I had intended to do sorbet jam. But I told him I had found another recipe which was more to my taste- sorbets pickled, the way you´d do it with olives. I went upstairs to print the recipe out (and have a real short chat with daughter mine). When I came back down, hubby had not only harvested the last sorbets but also had cored practically all of them- no chance to have sorbet-olives then, for this I´d need them whole. So it´s jam- again. Hubby loves jam, I do not. I solemnly swear- my revenge will be a terrible one! I am pretty sure that hubby´s brain consists of a kilo pack of jam sugar, and nothing else!
I retreated to the studio and did a bit of knitting, to cool off. Daughter wrote a Whatsapp message- a Mr. Snape had just checked in- should she box him and send him to me? Contrary to his namesake he must have been a good-looking exemplar of a man, but I´d favour the original one. At least, this girl is able to brighten up my life! First act of revenge- I did spaghetti with anchovies, olives and garlic. No way that hubby can bring in some meat with this meal. Tried the same yesterday with spicy carrot soup and garlic bread, but husband dearest insisted on adding sausages. Not a chance to do the same today. But I should have been aware that not so good things never come singly- I had just dressed for an extended shopping tour, when our neighbour rang up the door bell. She has a birthday celebration going on today and wanted us to join the bunch of visitors- hubby accepted. He so loves the idea of all residents in our street being retired now. Oh joy! So no comfort shopping for me today, I will have to wait until Monday. Not fair! Out of the summer dress, back to shorts again, and on Monday I might even need a sweater. Seriously, who needs 15 degrees in August...
